In determining this year's theme, the SPP National Council wanted to emphasize the various aspects of life in Cebu as well as the various facets of Physics as a discipline. Home to the University of San Carlos, the oldest school in the Philippines; and with fine beaches nearby, Cebu is also well-known location for tech companies strategically located within designated export processing zones. Our junior officers have led the way in melding these ideas, while the term "linkfest" magically appeared while brainstorming over tsokolate eh with Corey Cruz. Linkfest is not a dictionary word, but it connotes an abundance of linkages that describes the interdisciplinary role of Physics, as well as the strong link between industry and academia that can be found in Cebu.
