It is such a pleasure for the organizing committee of the 31st Samahang Pisika ng Pilipinas Physics Congress-- “Physics Linkfest: Spanning
Science & Technology” (October 23-25, 2013), to invite members and friends in joining us in applauding Physics and its rich collaborations
across disciplines. Coming back to the University of San Carlos (USC), the “Samahan” brings together students, scientists, enthusiasts, and
industrial partners, to the heart of the nation, towards a unique opportunity in strengthening existing ties and finding new opportunities for
linkage. Sheltered by the soothing Cebuano sun and the island’s inviting beaches, it would take more than a handful of days to contain the
inspiration one might find in this Congress. Physics continues to evolve as the discipline finds new relevance in addressing the usual and the
unlikely problems to solve while journeying with other disciplines to tinker with nature. This momentum extends the invitation to our future, the
students of high schools in the region, accompanied by their dedicated teachers, in “Physics Days” (October 21-22, 2013) to help us celebrate
our Department of Physics in USC, its 60 years of service in forming young minds, and its strong stance before the challenges of the nation’s
educational reform.
