  • Manuscript Submission: 15 June - 1 August 2014 (extended to 15 August 2014) 
  • Acceptance Notification: 1 September 2014 
  • Due Date for Accepted/Revised Manuscripts: 8 September 2014 
  • Release of Presentation Schedule: 15 September 2014 
  • Pre-Registration: 15-24 September 
  • Start of Congress: 17 October 2014 (Friday) 
  • End of Congress: 20 October 2014 (Monday) 
 INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

  1. Manuscript Submission. We encourage Authors to submit ahead of the deadline to facilitate an early manuscript review. Templates for the 4-page manuscript (.doc, .odt, .tex) may be downloaded from Paperview: http://paperview.spp-online.org/spp2014/main .   2. Peer review. A manuscript will be considered for publication in the SPP Congress Proceedings only if it contains new creative research work and/or important information not previously published. Editors and reviewers decide as to whether a submission is sufficiently different from other published or submitted manuscripts as to warrant consideration. Each manuscript whether contributed, an invited talk, or a workshop tutorial, will receive anonymous peer review by at least 2 reviewers who are scientists or engineers knowledgeable in the field covered by the manuscript. A manuscript may be returned to an author for revision prior to sending for review if it is deemed that the manuscript is so poorly written that it would place an unnecessary burden on reviewers. 
  3. Acceptance and Revisions. Notification of acceptance will be sent to the corresponding author on September 1, 2014 and revised manuscripts due date is on September 8, 2014. All authors (oral, poster, invited, workshop) are expected to submit a 4-page manuscript of their revised accepted papers. We want to emphasize that those authors of accepted papers who will not submit on time and those who exceed the 4-page limit run the risk to be excluded from the program. 
BEST POSTER AWARD

SPP will award special prizes for the best posters displayed during the conference. One poster of each session will be awarded. The criteria for judging include scientific content, originality, and design. Selection will be done by three reviewers nominated by the poster session chairs. Poster size is A0 (84.1 cm x 118.9 cm). Please include photo(s) of author(s) at the upper right-hand corner of poster. The winners will be announced during the Congress and will receive “SPP Best Scientific Poster Award” certificate.

BEST “ARTISTIC - SCIENTIFIC IMAGE” CONTEST

SPP invites all authors to submit impressive scientific images (one entry image per manuscript) to the 2014 SPP Best Artistic-Scientific Image Contest. Entries will be judged based on scientific and/or artistic value. The images could be original or nominally processed. The format should follow A4 aspect ratio (21.59 cm x 27.94 cm) (8.27 in x 11.69 in) and the resolution should be at least 300 dpi. Copyrights to the submitted entries will be transferred to SPP. Selection will be done by a jury of three members. The winners will be announced during the Congress and will receive “SPP Best Artistic- Scientific Image Award” certificate. Some of the entries may be included in the cover design of the conference program magazine/press releases. The deadline for submission of entries is on September 8, 2014. Please email your entry with a separate caption to publications@spp-online.org.

BEST “DILIMAN PHOTO” CONTEST

Submit one photo showing Diliman, Quezon City (including UP and its environs) at its best. The photos (>300 dpi, any format) should be captured only during the conference dates. As proof that the entry is a fresh photo, submit also an accompanying photo with you in the frame. Copyrights to the submitted entries should be transferred to SPP. Selection will be done by a jury of three members. The winners will be announced during the Congress and will receive special prizes. The deadline for submission of entries is on October 20, 2014 (8 am). Please email your entry with a separate caption to publications@spp-online.org. Thank you for supporting the SAMAHAN.
